Southern Countries' Response to COVID-19: Perspectives from PEP Researchers

The event, entitled “Southern Countries' Response to COVID-19: Perspectives from PEP Researchers”, will look at evidence generation and use priorities as well as what has worked and what has been less successful since the outbreak of the pandemic.

During the webinar, the panelists will discuss how PEP, and particularly PEP Research Fellows, may have contributed to policy research on the Covid-19 crisis and what more needs to be done amid a second or future waves of the pandemic. They will seek to identify areas on which the research community—including PEP—should focus for future policy research on the Covid-19 crisis.

PEP will host the webinar in collaboration with the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM) in Bangladesh, the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) in Sri Lanka, and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in Pakistan.

The panelists include PEP Research Fellows Nisha Arunatilake (IPS) and Vaqar Ahmed (SDPI), as well as PEP researcher Selim Raihan (SANEM). PEP’s Executive Director, Prof. Jane Mariara, will moderate the discussion.

This event is expected to be particularly relevant for researchers working on policy responses to the Covid-19 crisis in the Global South, government officers and advisors, and development partners.
