Issue #7 | 07 May 2020
It has been already seven weeks since we started this joint initiative to map social protection responses to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, we have already produced seven issues of this special newsletter, daily updated the Online Community and promoted nine webinars on the subject, organised by multiple partners and hosted by the platform. Since it is a joint effort, any help is welcome. So, if you are a Spanish or French speaker and want to contribute with this initiative, we are looking for volunteers to translate the webinars summaries we are producing in English into these two languages. Please, if you can help, send an email to [email protected].

Online Community
The sweeping repercussions of the COVID-19 outbreak require responses that extend far beyond the health sector, including measures to assist people in need and protect them from falling into poverty. Access the COVID-19 Online Community for up-to-date, global, regional and country-level content on social protection policies and operational measures in response to the pandemic. Since the beginning of this initiative, the Community has had more than 12,000 accesses. We suggest that you regularly visit two sections of this Online Community. One of them brings mappings and resources elaborated by various institutions that may be useful to you. In the other, you will find webinars hosted by other platforms and organizations and which are not featured in this newsletter. You are also invited to become a member, join the discussions and share your thoughts and other relevant content!

This initiative comprises an online community, a webinar series and this weekly newsletter, all of which features worldwide social protection responses to the COVID-19 crisis. It is a joint effort initiated by the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia, in collaboration with the platform. Partners and organisations are welcome and strongly invited to contribute. Learn more on how to collaborate. If you have any questions or comments, please send an email to [email protected].
