Issue #5 | 23 April 2020
We have come to the 5th edition of our COVID-19 special Newsletter. It has already been one month since the beginning of this task force and yet it seems there is much more to say and share about the social protection initiatives taken around the world to respond to this global challenge. Since the first issue, we have mapped more than 1.000 materials on the subject, bringing information from 120 countries in all regions of the World.

We are constantly working to improve this initiative so that two special subpages were created on the Online Community. The first one brings other mappings and resources from a variety of sources. Since this page and its mappings are being constantly updated, we suggest you visit it frequently for new information. We also recommend that you visit the subpage we have created to gather interesting webinars that are not hosted by

Online Community
The sweeping repercussions of the COVID-19 outbreak require responses that extend far beyond the health sector, including measures to assist people in need and protect them from falling into poverty. In this scenario, social protection measures have become more important than ever. Access the COVID-19 Online Community for up-to-date, global, regional and country-level content on social protection policies and operational measures in response to the pandemic. Since the beginning of this initiative, the Community has had almost 8,000 accesses. Become a member, join the discussions and share your thoughts and other relevant content!

This initiative comprises an online community, a webinar series and this weekly newsletter, all of which features worldwide social protection responses to the COVID-19 crisis. It is a joint effort initiated by the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia, in collaboration with the platform. Partners and organisations are welcome and strongly invited to contribute. Learn more on how to collaborate. If you have any questions or comments, please send an email to [email protected].
