Social Protection in times of #COVID19 | Issue #21
Issue #21 | 27 August 2020
On this edition of our special COVID-19 newsletter, we would like to remind you that our related community contains key information to facilitate access to the Social Protection Approaches to COVID-19: Expert advice helpline(SPACE). This is an initiative intended to provide technical advice to government representatives who are responsible for the maintenance and adaptation of social protection systems in response to the crisis caused by the pandemic. The helpline was created jointly by DFID’s Better Assistance in Crises (BASIC) and Gender-Responsive Social Protection (GSP) programmes and GIZ, funded by UKAid and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Learn more here.
The COVID-19 outbreak requires responses that extend far beyond the health sector, including measures to assist people in need and protect them from falling into poverty. We suggest that you regularly visit the COVID-19 Online Community for up-to-date content on social protection policies and operational measures taken worldwide in response to the pandemic. Become a member, join the discussions and share your thoughts!
This initiative comprises an Online Community, a webinar series and a newsletter, all of which feature worldwide social protection responses to COVID-19. This is a joint effort initiated by the International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia, in collaboration with the socialprotection.org online platform. All partners and organisations are welcome and strongly encouraged to contribute by sharing knowledge, joining and promoting discussion on this important topic. Learn more on how to collaborate. If you have any questions and/or suggestions, please send an email to [email protected].
