March 2019: How can we achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls with social protection?
Welcome to the March edition of our monthly newsletter!
The sixty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women is taking place this month in New York. This year’s priority theme is Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. The conclusions presented by the CSW 63 Bureau call for greater gender sensitive policy coherence across sectors and the recognition of unpaid and care work.
SPIAC-B's joint statement to the CSW, Social protection to promote gender equality and women’s and girls’ empowerment, echoes this sentiment, calling for concrete actions and investment in financing gender-responsive social protection systems. This month’s newsletter brings together relevant content in this pursuit.
