Long-term care – International experiences and good practices from mutual benefit societies

Current social protection systems are under considerable pressure from ageing populations, amplified by the burden of the economic crisis that follows the COVID-19 pandemic. Increasing health and social care needs turn the sustainability of long-term care (LTC) systems into a key challenge for the coming years.

There is no one single model that can be a panacea for the long-term care challenge. All parties involved bring important contributions to the table, among them the mutual benefit societies. Based on the principles of solidarity, democracy and not-for-profit, the mutual benefit societies represent an important asset for social protection systems in providing solutions for LTC.

As part of the cross-cutting project on LTC, this ISSA Webinar will discuss the challenges and solutions from an international perspective with good practices from the mutual benefit societies, considering their important contribution in addressing the urgent LTC needs.
