Call for Papers: National Conference on Iraq's Ratification of Social Security Convention 102

National Conference on Iraq's Ratification of Social Security Convention 102 The Center for Policy Research (CPR) at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) has the honor to call on interested scholars to submit research papers to the "National Conference on Iraq's Ratification of Social Security Convention 102", to be held at AUIB campus on the 6th of October 2022, in collaboration with the International Labor Organization, the Iraqi Parliament, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and the University of Baghdad. The conference will examine key aspects and challenges to reform of the social security environment in Iraq, to meet international standards and follow best practices, in light of Iraq's commitment to the C102. The conference will shed light on regional and international best practices in this regard, providing a platform for constructive dialogue, with the purpose of formulating a set of recommendations on the design and implementation of public policy aimed at ensuring inclusive and integrated social protection systems in Iraq. Research topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

o Legal Assessment and Reform

o Administrative Structure and Processes

o Pervasive Informality in the Labor Market and Access to Social Security

o Gender Discrimination in the Labor Market and the Social Security Coverage Gap

o Job Creation and the Inclusivity and Sustainability of Social Security Systems
