Integrating Gender and Child Rights into Social Protection Reforms: Three Case Studies from Angola

The research underscores the imperative of institutionalizing gender and child rights considerations within Angola’s social protection system. While reforms such as PNAS and APROSOC have made strides in prioritizing gender and child rights, significant gaps remain, particularly in institutionalizing gender across the social protection framework. Strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing coordination and securing sustained political commitment are crucial for upholding these objectives. As Angola navigates its social protection journey, the research provides insights into the challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and transformative change across the life course through social protection reforms. By bolstering institutional mechanisms and aligning policies with gender-responsive principles, Angola can forge a more inclusive and equitable social protection system, thereby advancing the rights and well-being of its most vulnerable populations.
