This case study explores the inter-relationships of Fiji’s natural hazards and climate-related risks with social protection and poverty issues. The disaster risk management (DRM), climate change adaptation (CCA) and social protection (SP) institutional frameworks and mechanisms currently in place to respond to disaster/climate-related social protection needs are analyzed. Gaps are identified and recommendations are made to further develop and strengthen the linkages between the three areas as a key element of poverty reduction strategies.
