Blog: What did the Kyrgyz Republic do?

During the final years of the Soviet regime, approximately 500 collective and state farms controlled 98 percent of the arable land in the Kyrgyz Republic. These centrally managed enterprises focused on a few priorities, especially raising sheep for wool and growing fodder crops like alfalfa to support the flocks.
