Inclusive Social Protection, Care, and Support Systems Global Technical Workshop - Summary Report

Inclusive care and support systems are crucial for developing human capabilities, promoting equal socio-economic participation, and ensuring functional societies. They facilitate women's labor force participation, create decent jobs in paid care sectors, and enhance children's capabilities, autonomy, and socio-economic participation for persons with disabilities and older persons. However, few countries have invested adequately in these systems, leaving families, particularly women and girls, as primary caregivers, which limits their education and economic opportunities. To address this, FCDO, UNICEF, and STAAR collaborated in 2023, hosting a global workshop to explore challenges and strategies for inclusive care systems. The workshop aimed to develop systems that are disability-inclusive, gender-responsive, contextually relevant, and fiscally sustainable. This report is a synthesis of the workshop’s key reflections.
