Vision 2030: The National Development Strategy of Trinidad and Tobago 2016-2030

The Vision 2030 NDS aims to provide a broad socio-economic development framework to the year 2030. It is intended to provide for an orderly long-term development process, inclusive of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Trinidad and Tobago’s approach to implementation of the 2030 Global Development Agenda will begin with the unfinished business of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), in the areas such as maternal mortality, an area where we have already made great strides, containment of HIV/AIDS, and reducing the incidence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). However, it must be noted that under the MDGs, the country has surpassed the targets in many areas such as gender parity in schools, the elimination of malaria and tuberculosis and set new international benchmarks in Early Childhood Education.
