Founded in 1973, the National Association of Postgraduate Programs in Economics (in Portuguese, ANPEC) represents 27 accredited Brazilian institutions that offer postgraduate programs and develop academic research in the field of Economics. The ANPEC provides and sponsors a variety of academic initiatives and services, such as the national admission test for prospective master’s students (the ANPEC Test), the annual National Meeting of Economics, the scholarly journal EconomiA, and the Haralambos Simeonidis Award, that awards the best papers and thesis on Economics. The ANPEC also holds cooperation agreements with BNDES (the Brazilian Development Bank), CNI (the National Confederation of Industry) and the Ministry of Finance to encourage and sponsor academic research in the field of economics.
