Welfare State in Transition: From Humanitarian Assistance to Governmental Social Protection in Iraq

This dissertation aims at displaying the Iraqi Welfare State in a time of transition: the 2014 Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL or ISIS) insurgency which ended in December 2017, disrupted an already fragile Social Protection System that was attempting to recover from three decades of violence and economic fragility. We will explore the evolution of the Iraqi Welfare State from the aftermath of the 1932 independency from the British mandate to nowadays.
