Strengthening Rural Resilience in India: A framework for mainstreaming ERADA's outputs for building long term resilience in rural India
'Enhancing Rural Resilience through Appropriate Development Actions (ERADA)' is an Indo-German development cooperation project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmBH in cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India. The project works in close collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA programme - the largest public employment programme in the world. ERADA is a Corona pandemic response project and supports BMZ's Corona Immediate Programme. This publication tries to define the term 'resilience,' understand its evolution over the years, and explain its relevance in today's context of the corona pandemic, climate change and other shocks. The key objective of this publication is to outline a framework for mainstreaming the ERADA project's outputs for building long term resilience in rural India.
While the publication was developed for the ERADA project, the framework outline is useful for development practioners, researchers and policy makers working on rural resilience, social protection and public employment programmes globally.
