Social Protection and Safety Nets in Sudan
Social Protection and Safety Nets in Sudan
The Cairo Regional Bureau of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Centre for Social Protection at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex are conducting a scoping study of social protection programmes in the Middle East and North Africa region. This scoping exercise is expected to contribute to the development of WFP’s regional social protection strategy. This report on Sudan is one in a series of in-depth country case studies generated for this project.
The main objective of this study is to document the social protection and SSN programmes, policies and strategies in Sudan and related government and other efforts to combat poverty. The outcomes of the study should pave the way for WFP and others to streamline their interventions, coordination and collaboration for the best interests of the poor in the country.
