In Asia there is a growing awareness of the importance of establishing unemployment benefits & income security measures for the working age population.Despite the recognition of the importance of income security measures for the working age population, only a limited number of countries have established so far unemployment benefit schemes, and the effective coverage is very low. There is a need to further support the development of unemployment benefits and income security measures, as well as Active Labour Market Policies, both for formal sector workers and vulnerable workers.
