Recognizing that public subsidies for health care will serve as a cornerstone in improving health service utilization, six demand side financing schemes are currently under implementation in Nepal. Of these, the Aama Programme and the programme for 4ANC (Antenatal Care) visits both aim to increase maternal health service utilization, thereby reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. This report reviews progress made recently using Aama Programme and 4ANC related studies and information from the financial monitoring system.
