Nutritional status in Sri Lanka, determinants and interventions: a desk review

The importance of nutrition for good health of individuals and for the economic growth and development of a country is well recognized. Though Sri Lanka has achieved much improvement in social, health and educational outcomes, nutritional outcomes do not match the achievements in the other sectors. This review aimed to collate all available documents, reports, research and other information on nutritional status, its determinants and evaluation of interventions with a view to identifying gaps and opportunities to improve nutritional status with particular emphasis on young children and to map available data to the lowest possible geographic unit.
