Programme objectives

MCH aims to improve maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality in the country by improving maternal and child health through an incentive-based programme of conditional cash transfers.

Conditionalities (if any)
Pregnant women must: (i) register for antenatal care (ANC) at SURE-P MCH facility; (ii) have attended and completed at least fou antenatal care (ANC) visits at SURE-P MCH designated facility; (iii) deliver her baby at a designated SURE-P MCH facility; (iv) bring baby for immunization at post-natal visits at designated SURE-P MCH facility.

Monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and frequency
Subsidy Reinvestment and Intervention Programme (SURE-P) has a Monitoring and Evaluation of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Department which is managed by the National Planning Commission (NPC) under the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. This department is responsible for providing technical evaluation on all SURE-P programmes and projects. The M&E department works collaboratively with the Health Management Information Systems (HMIS),  Federal Ministry of Health, and National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) to entrench an evidence-based annual assessment system of the performance of the Nation's economy with a view to promoting accountability in the implementation of Government (SURE-P) programmes.
