Programme objectives

The pilot programme Step-to-work has been implemented in 2008 by the Government of Jamaica. It has been included as a new component of PATH, focusing on the labour capabilities empowerment of the PATH participants of working age. The programme includes a special training literacy and entrepreneurship component, job-seeking training and labour board.

i) Training literacy and entrepreneurship ii) Job-seeking training iii) Job board: This is the main component of the programme. It consists in integrating directly the beneficiary into a company (through a labour pool within the Electronic Labour Exchange of the LMIS) for a three-month period and assesses their results in terms of employability.
