Programme objectives
The purpose of the conditional cash transfer programme (CCT) Bono Vida Mejor is to contribute to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by creating opportunities, developing skills and competences in education, health and nutrition of families in extreme poverty. Consequently, this bonus seeks to promote intersectoral strategies and actions for education, health and nutrition, as well as coordination with other social programmes related to employment, income and family savings. Its former name (Bono 10.000) indicated that the programme transfered 10,000 lempiras per year, in education or a combination of bonuses for health and nutrition.

Conditionalities (if any)
i) Bono de nutrición (Nutrition bonus): Appropriate use of micronutrient ; Registration of children and pregnant women in the Health Unit;
ii) Bono de salud (Health bonus): Health: Registration of children and pregnant / breastfeeding women at the Health Unit for check-ups;
iii) Bono educación (Education bonus): Education: enrollment in 1st and 2nd quarter; at least 80% school attendance in 3rd and 4th quarter.
iv) Apoyo básico (Basic Allowance): At least one member of the household must fullfill at least one corresponsability in education or health.
Sanctions: Upon the first breach, a warning is issued to the participating household. At the second consecutive default, a deduction of 100% of the corresponding transfer will be applied to the member who did not comply. A temporary suspension of the transfer is applied when the holder does not claim for two consecutive periods the transfer assigned by the Program and when the household changes of location to a sector not covered by the program.

Instrument of selection: Household census and surveys to identify geographic areas with the highest incidence of poverty; and the unique card of characterization of the Unique Registry of Beneficiaries (RUB) to identify households in poverty.
i) Bono de nutrición [Nutrition bonus]: Children under 6 years - Pregnant / breastfeeding women;
ii) Bono de salud [Health bonus]: Children under 6 years -Pregnant / breastfeeding women;
iii) Bono educación [Education bonus]: Children between 6 and 18 years enrolled in the public system;
iv) Apoyo básico [Basic Allowance]: Households participating in the program.

ii) Bono de salud: Transfer amount varies depending on beneficiary's characteristics (number of children) Minimum US$ 4.7 (2017); Maximum per household:L. L. 125 monthly in 2017.
iii) Bono educación: Minimum US$ 4.7 (2017); Maximum per household: L. 290 monthly in 2017.
iv) Apoyo básico: Minimum US$ 12.8 (2017); Maximum per household: L. 335 monthly in 2017.

i) Bono de nutrición (Nutrition bonus): Flat transfer; Previously it was made by delivery / withdrawal of money or deposit in bank account. As of 2015, the nutrition component is covered through the offer of services by the Ministry of Health to the participating population, allocating the necessary resources to deliver micronutrients to children from 0 to 5 years old, pregnant and puerperal women.
