Virus hits poverty reduction progress in Asia-Pacific: UN

The UN on Tuesday said the COVID-19 pandemic has erased years of progress in poverty reduction in the Asia-Pacific region. The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2021, released by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), suggested that the Asia-Pacific region needs large, yet attainable, investments in resilience to protect development gains amid a fragile and inequitable post-COVID-19 economic recovery.
