New pension schemes all set to start disbursing unemployment benefits

The Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) are in the final stages of setting up operational guidelines for inssuance of unemployment benefits to members, the sector regulator announced yesterday. According to Social Security Regulatory Authority (SSRA) public relations manager Sara Klbonde, NSSF will start receiving applications for unemployment benefits under the new law from this Thursday. Under the recently-enacted Public Service Social Security Fund Act 2018, members of pension schemes who have lost their jobs can get unemployment benefits while looking for another job, instead of withdrawing completely like before under what was known as withdrawl benefits.
