Germany donates $8m to boost livelihoods in South Sudan

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has welcomed a $8 million contribution from the German government of enhance recovery operation in war-torn South Sudan. The funds will reportedly enable WFP support initiatives to strengthen the resilience of over 180,000 people through food assistance and cash transfers. This year WFP plans to assist more than 500,000 people, including 260,000 women, through food assistance to build assets such as vegetable gardens, access roads and shallow wells to help families strengthen resilience and rebuild livelihoods.
