Decade of opportunity for social security in Asia and the Pacific, says ISSA report

Social security in the Asia-Pacific region is benefiting from a favourable context to achieve unprecedented progress, but systems need to prepare for new challenges if comprehensive coverage is to be consolidated and sustained, according to a new report from the ISSA. The ISSA report, Asia and the Pacific: Strategic approaches to improve social security , analyses how the favourable alignment of dynamic economic growth, positive political will and a "demographic window" has contributed to recent significant advances in the design, financing and delivery of social security in much of the region. The report will be launched at the Regional Social Security Forum for Asia and the Pacific, which opens on 2 November in Muscat, Oman.
