Responding to the impacts of COVID-19 in Western and Central Africa, the World Bank has supported the rapid, large-scale roll-out of cash transfers and employment assistance to the poorest communities since the beginning of the crisis. The World Bank supported 19 countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the Republic of Congo, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.
