25,469 people benefit from old-age pension scheme in Mizoram
At least 25,469 people have benefited from the old-age pension under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS). Social welfare minister Dr K Beichhua informed the state legislature on Wednesday that altogether 19,268 people between 60 and 79 years of age and 6,201 old age people of 80 years and above have been given old-age pension grants.
He said that people between 60 and 79 years are given a monthly stipend of Rs 250 and Rs 550 to people of 80 years and above. The beneficiaries are not given on a monthly basis due to delay in funds from the Centre, he added. Read More
