Slide presentation of the webinar held on 31 March 2020. Universal basic income (UBI) is emerging as a hotly-debated issue in social protection. Currently, the debate is reaching new heights as countries are considering UBI as part of COVID-19 response packages. Drawing from a recent book on the subject, the webinar reviewed key issues and evidence on UBI as a social protection measure; identified emerging lessons from a variety of cross-country experiences; and reflected on its potential and limitations as a crisis response as well as longer-term intervention.
