Webinar presentation - Closing the gender data gap in social protection
Webinar presentation - Closing the gender data gap in social protection
Slide presentation of the webinar held on 28 May 2024.
An important first step in making social protection systems and programmes gender-responsive and transformative is to understand how they are currently reaching and benefiting women and girls. This requires more readily available and better-quality data on gender statistics in social protection. To jumpstart this agenda, greater coordination and collaboration on intersectional gender data across social protection systems is also needed. On behalf of the SPIAC-B Gender Group, the STAAR Facility recently carried out a rapid mapping exercise aimed at understanding current efforts of global development agencies in collecting and analysing sex disaggregated data in social protection systems and identifying priority gaps. In this webinar, co-authors of the paper Tia Palermo and Maja Gavrilovic discussed their findings and recommendations for moving forward with this critical agenda.
