The primary purpose of this manual is to define guidelines, policies and procedures for effective implementation the World Bank (WB) funded “Modern Food Storage Facilities Project. These procedures make due reference to the World Bank guidelines as well as Government of Bangladesh (GoB) rules as applicable to the Project.
To enhance the capacity of the country in increasing food reserves the Directorate of Food, GoB initiated this project. The project aims at storing 535,500 MT of food grain for strengthening all components of public food distribution system (PFDS). These includes procuring, importing, storage and distribution of food grains to meet public demand, market intervention and ensuring the quality of food grains at affordable & fair prices to safeguard the interest of the poor people as well as the producers.
