The COVID-19 crisis is estimated to have substantial economical impacts in Africa, but those will not be identical among population groups and areas within a country. As a result of the different socioeconomic structures and dynamics of rural and urban areas, people living in the latter are far more impacted by lockdown measures and face more difficulties in implementing the recommended social distancing and sanity procedures.
