The year 2021 has been declared as the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour, aiming to inspire governments to achieve target 8.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by taking innovative actions to eradicate child labour worldwide. Although child labour has decreased by 38 percent in the last decade, 152 million children are still affected, and the COVID-19 pandemic has had its negative impacts, threatening to reverse years of progress.
