December 2021 - How can social protection help manage climate risks?
Welcome to our December newsletter!
What is the link between social protection and climate change? Inspired by the discussions held during the 26th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26), our December newsletter explores the potential of social protection to respond to climate change. COVID-19 has taught us about the importance of social protection programmes and systems that can be scaled and leveraged to protect people in times of disasters and crises. Similarly, social protection can perform central functions to managing climate-related risks, by ensuring basic wellbeing before and during shocks, and by stimulating the adoption of measures that support the transition to a more climate-resilient future.
