The Government of Cabo Verde and the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa will jointly host The Second WHO Africa Health Forum on the theme : Achieving Universal Health Coverage and Health Security in Africa: The Africa we want to see.
The focus of this report is to present the situation of workers in agrifood systems in West Africa, the main challenges and vulnerabilities they face, and how social protection in these countries attempts or manages to respond to them, both through contributory social insurance mechanisms and non-contributory social assistance responses.

The European Union, in partnership with the International Labour Organization, UNICEF and the Global Coalition for Social Protection Floors, is implementing a thematic flagship programme aimed to strengthen social protection systems and ensure sustainable financing while improving public finance management. The initiative is currently being implemented in 18 countries and has immediately reoriented funds to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
