The Humboldt University of Berlin (in German : Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ) is the oldest university in Berlin, founded in 1810 as the University of Berlin (Universität zu Berlin) by the Prussian linguist and liberal educator Wilhelm von Humboldt , whose university model strongly influenced other European and Western universities.
