HelpAge International is a global network of organisations working to ensure that everyone can enjoy a dignified, active, healthy and secure old age. The network has been active since 1983 and operates in 65 countries across the world on a number of issues including income security, health, violence and abuse, and emergency response. HelpAge has been particularly active in the area of social protection and ageing in low and middle income countries for more than a decade. We provide technical support to donors and governments, empower citizens to monitor programmes and engage in political dialogue, and engage in wider sector knowledge exchange. During the period 2007/8 to 2012/13 we contributed to the extension of social pension schemes to 9 million older people.
