Description
CIEDESS, Corporación de Investigación, Estudio y Desarrollo de la Seguridad Social (Corporation for Research, Study and Development of Social Security), is a non-profit centre created 20 years ago by the Chilean Chamber of Construction aiming to contribute to the improvement and development of the social security.
Besides running studies and researches to achieve its goals, CIEDESS organizes and carries out seminars, conferences and working meetings where experts are invited to lead discussions around a subject concerning social security relevant to Chile. Their points of view and conclusions are then transcribed to a digital magazine and uploaded into Internet.
Besides the above, CIEDESS has edited a series of books in Spanish and in English, being the latter among others, “Policies for Financing Housing in Chile” (1995), “AFP: A Three Letter Revolution” (1998), “Pension Funds Investment” (FIAP, 2005), “The Strengthening of the New Pension System: The Role of Each Pillar in the Solution of Pension Problems” (FIAP, 2005), “Impacts of Taxation and Labour Market Policies on the Retirement Decision” and “Pension Funds Investments Perspectives” (2006), “Pension Reform in Eastern Europe” (2007), and “Funded Systems: Their Role in Solving the Pension Problem” (FIAP, 2008).
