English
Monday, September 10, 2018 to Friday, October 05, 2018

In June 2016, the International Labour Conference launched the revision of the Employment (Transition from War to Peace) Recommendation, 1944 (No. 205). This standard-setting process upholds the ILO's constitutional principles of social justice and peace, principles that are deeply rooted in the reconstruction and peace-building efforts made following 20th century conflicts. This course is aimed at developing trade unions' capacities in the area of Recommendation No. 205 in responding to crises through employment and job creation and developing trade union responses based on strengthened partnerships and emphasis on prevention and resilience, as well as on recovery. This course will support trade union organizations to further develop their strategic thinking and practical activities in responding to crises and the promotion of durable solutions for communities and countries affected by armed conflicts and/or disasters. The course activities will strengthen union capacity to promote decent employment, foster social protection, social dialogue and respect for fundamental rights.

Target audience

The course is aimed at trade union leaders and officials under 45 years of age in charge of employment and decent work. Special attention will be paid to women candidates and the gender-balanced composition of course participants.
