Welcome to the August edition of our monthly newsletter!
Women and girls around the world have been suffering the COVID-19 effects like everyone else. But, besides that, they have also been exposed to an increase in cases of domestic violence and child marriages, as consequences of the economic stress and the decrease of families´ incomes caused by the pandemic. Pregnant women have even had difficulties accessing health care due to the collapse of health systems. Social protection measures targeting women and girls, such as Cash Transfers Programmes, are more needed than ever before to guarantee the rights and safety of women and girls in this context. This month, two webinars of our COVID-19 webinar series will focus on this theme.

Below you can find the usual sections of our monthly newsletter, as well as the COVID-19 mapping of social protection measures being implemented all around the world to respond to the emergency.
