Background

socialprotection.org aims to facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building on effective social protection policies and programmes, particularly among low- and middle- income countries. It strives to achieve this goal by providing a centralised platform by which to access the most up-to-date, comprehensive database and multimedia learning materials on social protection, while simultaneously fostering a community of social protection practitioners.

The unbranded platform provides mechanisms to inspire discussions on topics related to social protection, accommodating policy-makers, experts and students, extending from the individual to the institutional level. A unique taxonomy of content classification has been developed by the socialprotection.org team to facilitate the efficient sourcing of information for effective knowledge sharing.

Social protection is key for the realisation of Sustainable Development Goal 1, to end poverty in all its forms everywhere, via the implementation of universal, national social protection floors, to ensure no one is left behind. socialprotection.org is committed to generating knowledge for the promotion of innovative and effective social protection policies, with the ambition of contributing to inclusive growth and sustainable development, necessary for the achievement of SDG1.
