Webinar Presentation - Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of Philippines: Linking Cash Transfer to Sustainable Livelihood Development
Presentation of the webinar "Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of Philippines: Linking Cash Transfer to Sustainable Livelihood Development", hosted by the socialprotection.org platform on 18 November 2016. Governments face an imperative to cease cash transfer at some point to households which have economically active persons to release the funds to support new households as well as for avoiding so called ‘dependency syndrome’. The Government of Philippines has developed a successful program titled Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) to link the recipients of the cash transfer program Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to sustainable livelihoods development options through two tracks: micro-enterprise development and employment facilitation. It uses four modalities, these are pre-employemnt assistance fund, provision of seed capital fund, skills training and cash for building livelihood assets. From 2011 to 2015, 22% of the beneficiaries of the 4Ps programs were linked to livelihoods development options through SLP.
