WFP International Forum Cape Town 2016: Social Protection Initiatives in Achieving Zero Hunger

The World Food Programme - Center of Excellence against Hunger (WFP -CEH) hereby takes pleasure in inviting you to attend the International Forum: Social Protection Initiatives for Achieving Food Security and Improved Nutrition, in Cape Town, South Africa from the 15th to the 17th of November 2016.

The exciting forum is hosted by the WFP Center of Excellence against Hunger in partnership with the Economic Policy Research Institute. 

​Forum Venue and Costs​
The forum will be held at the NH Lord Charles Hotel, located in Somerset West, Cape Town, South Africa. The World Food Programme - Centre for Excellence against Hunger will cover the conferencing components including tea breaks and lunches for participants. However, participants are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation costs. 

Forum Objectives
This event is an attempt to bring the diverse views, expectations, challenges and experiences in implementing social protection programmes related to food and nutrition security, health, nutrition, education and agriculture. Basing in SDGs 1 and 2, the linkages between its targets and existing social protection initiatives, the Forum will encourage South-South debate and evaluation of the current activities and discuss potential cooperation opportunities.
Expected outcomes:
 Agreement on recommendations for integrating social protection programmes to food and nutrition security promotion initiatives;
 Clear comprehension of SDGs 1 and 2 and how to incorporate it to existing programmes;
 Strengthened knowledge of other countries’ challenges and sustainable solutions;
 Improved dialogue between participating countries;
